Piano Tuning
The process of making adjustments to the tension of all of the strings inside of a piano in order to properly align the intervals to make them sound "in tune." In Western Michigan, higher levels of humidity in the summer and dry winters with very little humidity will significantly alter your piano's tuning & pitch.
Since the strings are connected to a wooden soundboard via wooden bridges, the pitch of a piano will drift sharp when exposed to an increase in humidity due to an increase in the soundboard's moisture content. As the soundboard loses this moisture in dryer winter months, the pitch will fall flat. Regular tuning & maintaining a consistent proper humidity level will keep your piano at pitch and sounding its best.
Action Regulation & Voicing
A series of precise mechanical adjustments done to the action to create an even touch across the entire keyboard. If your piano has keys that stick or feel sluggish, regulation adjustments will bring your piano's action to a higher level of function and allow for overall better control, responsiveness and repetition.
Since pianos are made out of wood, felt and other organic materials, it is common for normal wear to take place on these parts over time. I take great pride and care in bringing the action of a piano to "like new" condition. Another major part of action regulation is voicing. This addresses the tonal characteristics by hammer reshaping and softening or hardening the hammer felt to make the overall tone even.
Repairs & Cleaning
Anything from keys that do not work to broken strings are my specialty. With over 9,000 parts inside of your piano, it is important to have a technician with the skills and the knowledge to keep your piano working properly. What ever issue your piano is having, I offer complete repair services. In addition to various repairs and diagnostic skills, I offer complete piano cleaning to keep your piano looking its best.

Rebuilding involves replacing and repairing every aspect of the piano in order to put it into like new condition. I specialize in high-end restoration work which also includes refinishing.

I work with my clients to help them achieve consistency in their climates which ensures tuning stability and overall extended life of pianos in general. The ideal climate setting for a piano is 42% Relative Humidity at 68° F. I am also a certified installer of the Piano Life Saver system which helps to regulate and maintain a micro-environment inside of the piano.
